The second International Conference on Translational Research in Radio-Oncology and Physics for Health in Europe (ICTR-PHE) will take place 10-14 February 2014 in Geneva, Switzerland.

The inaugural conference, held in 2012, merged two major events in the interdisciplinary field of diagnosis and treatment: the International Conference on Translational Research in Radio-Oncology and CERN’s Physics for Health workshop.

Physicists, engineers, biologists and medical doctors will gather at the Geneva International Conference Centre (CICG) to discuss the latest advancements and future developments in clinical and pre-clinical strategies, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, detectors, imaging and new technologies.

“The first PHE workshop at CERN raised great interest, and so did the first ICTR-PHE joint conference,” says Steve Myers, director of Accelerators and Technology. “CERN is pleased to confirm its contribution to medical physics and to share its technical know-how and its proven ability to build interdisciplinary platforms for effective collaborations.”

As it was two years ago, the conference will be jointly chaired by Manjit Dosanjh, CERN’s life sciences advisor and member of the Knowledge Transfer group, and by Jacques Bernier, head of the Radiotherapy department at the Genolier Clinic in Switzerland.

“The clinical community benefits from the partnership with CERN in many ways,” says Bernier. “Medical doctors and radio-biologists are glad to be an active part of CERN’s worldwide network of research centres and to contribute to the knowledge exchange that this network makes possible.”

Registration is now open (deadline for early registration and abstract submission: 30 September 2013).
