Target material development for ISOLDE Physics

Where:

508/1-001 at CERN

The exploration of newer and more exotic nuclear systems at ISOLDE comes with challenges related to very short half-lives, low production efficiency, or difficulties regarding certain elements’ refractory nature.  To tackle these issues, the development of new and improved target materials has become a top priority to keep up with users' requests. Investigating alternative materials, testing different morphologies, and enhancing material characteristics are essential for overcoming these challenges. This presentation will provide an overview of the materials utilized in ISOLDE targets, highlighting recent advancements in nanostructured target materials production and improvements in the supporting infrastructure.
