At CERN, Safety is not simply a set of rules and procedures. It is a shared responsibility and a core part of our culture. Every member of the CERN community contributes to creating and maintaining a safe working environment, whether in workshops, offices, technical areas or underground facilities.

To support this commitment, the HSE Department’s Safety training team has revised the “Safety at CERN” e-learning course, and the updated version was launched in September. Designed for everyone at CERN, the course provides a concise introduction to the foundations of working safely at the Organization and promotes awareness of the principles that underpin our collective safety culture.

Why take the course?

The course aims to:

  • Strengthen your commitment to Safety;
  • Provide the essential foundations for working safely at CERN;
  • Help you to protect both yourself and those around you;
  • Promote the shared behaviours and responsibilities that contribute to a strong safety culture.

Even if you have been at CERN for many years, we encourage you to discover the updated version. It is an opportunity to refresh your knowledge and reflect on how we can all make Safety a daily priority.

The course takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and is aimed at all members of the CERN community.

A strong safety culture is built through the actions of every individual, every day. By taking a few minutes to complete the updated course, you will help to reinforce the values that protect our people, our experiments and our mission.
