Need a quiet moment? Discover the Library’s new “Comfort Zone”
—
On 13 October 2026, the CERN Library celebrated the official opening of its new Comfort Zone, a recently renovated space on the ground floor of the CERN Library, in Building 52.

Following the inauguration of the Library’s first-floor space three years ago, this new area transforms the previously underused ground-floor space into an environment designed with diverse sensory needs in mind. The new area was developed by the CERN Library, the Diversity and Inclusion Programme, SNAC (Supporting Neurodiversity at CERN) network, SCE and Lucile Carre, a student at the Haute école de gestion de Genève (HEG).
Whether you need a moment away from a busy or stimulating environment, time to recharge or a quiet place to concentrate, the Library’s new Comfort Zone offers a welcoming space to find calm: one area with eight high-backed comfort chairs, some overlooking the garden, where visitors can simply sit and unwind, and an area with desks for quiet, focused work. Help us to spread the word!
