Sedentary lifestyles and poor eating habits pose major challenges to public health by increasing the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity. Yet small lifestyle changes can lead to big improvements, not only in energy, concentration and well-being, but also in our long-term physical and mental health.
Join us on Tuesday, 16 September for the “Move More, Eat Better” campaign, a special event organised by the CERN Medical Service alongside the European Mobility Week activities coordinated by the SCE department (more details early September). This is your chance to explore how movement and nutrition can transform your daily life – at work and beyond.
What to expect:
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Main Building, R1 and R1 terrace/lawn
- Live sports and movement demos (weather permitting) with various CERN sports clubs, including basketball, croquet, martial arts, fitness and more, and featuring a warm-up session with the Servette Football Club. If it rains, alternative demos will be organised on the Mezzanine of the Main Building.
- Practical nutrition tips and advice from NOVAE and the Antenne Genevoise des Diététiciens (ADIGE, a Geneva-based association of dieticians).
- Smart tools to stay active at your desk with AZERGO and the CERN Medical Service.
- And don’t miss the chance to make your own smoothie using pedal-power!
12.30 p.m. to 2 p.m. – Main Auditorium
Conference with specialist health and nutrition experts, notably the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG) and the Servette Football Club. For more details and to register, see: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1560595/.
This is the perfect complement to a week of mobility and well-being initiatives at CERN. Let’s get moving – for your heart, your head and your health.
