Information for members of the personnel residing in France: Energy Cheque in France

|

It has been noted that some members of the CERN personnel residing in France may have erroneously received assistance with paying their energy bills, in the form of an "energy cheque" (see https://chequeenergie.gouv.fr).

This scheme, set up by the French authorities, is intended for low-income households whose reference tax income is below a certain ceiling, to help them pay their energy bills (gas, electricity, heating).

It should be remembered that the tax privileges enjoyed by members of the personnel are granted in the interest of the Organization and not in their personal interest, in accordance with Article S I 4.01 of the Staff Rules.

Consequently, the taxable income of members of the personnel residing in France must not be used to obtain assistance reserved for low-income households. Members of the personnel who have erroneously received an energy cheque are asked to notify their refusal to benefit from it by calling the freephone number* indicated on the cheque.
