Jan-Paul Brouwer (Netherlands) took up the role of CERN Director for Finance and Human Resources in January 2026. He holds a Master of Public Administration/International Relations from Groningen University and a postgraduate degree in Accounting from University Leuven Business School.​  

His career spans over 25 years in international organisations. Previous roles included positions in recruitment, finance, procurement and policy at the European Food Safety Authority, the European Commission and the European Parliament.  

In 2011, he was appointed Deputy Director of Corporate Services and Head of Human Resources at the European Defence Agency. From 2017 to 2021, he returned to the European Parliament where he served as Deputy Secretary-General for Finance and Human Resources of the Greens/EFA Group, and as Manager in the Office of the Secretary-General. From 2021 to 2024, he was Director of Human Resources at the European University Institute.
