When working from home, the daily commute may not be at the top of your mind, but Bike to Work is back with a twist! Let’s make the 2021 event bigger than ever.

With work being a hastily improvised home office for many of us, and the daily commute being just a few steps, it might seem strange to be talking of a Bike to Work campaign. But whether at CERN or in the office, cycling is good for you, and it’s good for the environment, so the organisers of the Swiss Bike to Work campaign have adapted this year’s event to the time of COVID-19.

If you’re working from home, you can still take part, without unicycling around the kitchen or risking the mountain bike down the stairs. This year, if you’re working from home and you go out for a lunchtime ride, it counts for your team. CERN has signed up for the months of May and June, and the activity is open to teams of four. It’s time to form your teams and sign up. If you’re looking for a team, we can help match you up with others in the same position.

Every participant will receive a specially designed cycling shirt, and there are prizes amounting to a total value of CHF 120 000 on offer too. Last year, CERN fielded the largest number of teams in French-speaking Switzerland, and was not far behind ETH Zurich. This year, let’s go one better!
