Einstein/Pauli junction reopened on 15 October

Following the completion of Phase 2 of the project, the junction between Route Einstein and Route Pauli was reopened to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians on 15 October 2026. This re-established an important link between different parts of the Meyrin site and improved circulation across the campus.

Route Einstein–Route Pauli junction, now open to all traffic.

Next phase: improved access for pedestrians and cyclists

Phase 4 of the project is expected to begin on Monday, 16 November 2026. As part of this phase, Gate B will once again be accessible in both directions for pedestrians and cyclists from 7.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. on working days, restoring a direct link between the Meyrin site and the Esplanade des Particules. This arrangement will provide easier access for people travelling to and from the site on foot, by bicycle or by public transport.

Following a review of safety requirements, Gate B will not be reopened to vehicles exiting the site during this phase as originally planned. Gate B will therefore remain closed to vehicles in both directions. Gate A, Gate C, Gate E and the inter-site tunnel will remain open, with the necessary checks in place to meet the safety and radiation protection requirements laid down by the Host State authorities.

Getting to and moving around the Meyrin site

Gate A will remain open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Members of the CERN community are encouraged to use Gates C and E and, where authorised, the inter-site tunnel, to help distribute traffic more evenly across the site.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Please allow extra time when travelling through the areas affected by the work and follow the temporary signage in place.
