The Site Operations Sector is running a Facility Managers pilot project to improve the working environment in selected CERN buildings.

The pilot introduces two dedicated Facility Managers to serve as local points of contact for people working in and using the buildings. By being regularly on site and proactively monitoring facilities, they help improve safety and operational efficiency, and provide rapid solutions whenever possible.

The pilot runs from 17 August 2026 to March 2027 and covers two building clusters:

  • Cluster 1: Buildings 33, 4 and 5
  • Cluster 2: the Main Building (Buildings 500, 501, 503, 60, 61, 62, 63 and 64)

These buildings have been selected to represent a variety of offices, auditoriums, service areas and public spaces across the CERN sites.

Facility Managers will be present in the pilot buildings throughout the day and can be contacted in the following ways:

Help us evaluate the pilot

Feedback from the community will play a key role in assessing the pilot. Occupants of the selected buildings will be invited to take part in surveys during the pilot to assess the service, identify areas for improvement and help determine whether the Facility Manager model could be expanded to other CERN buildings in the future.
