There are only five days left to apply for CERN's Summer Student Programme, a chance to join CERN as a summer student in Geneva, Switzerland, and get involved with some of the world’s biggest experiments.

The deadline for application is fixed on 31 January 2013 (00:00 CET) so hurry up!

Nationals of member states of CERN should apply here.

Nationals of non-member states of CERN should apply here.

The CERN Summer Student Programme offers undergraduate students of physics, computing and engineering a unique opportunity to join in the day-to-day work of research teams participating in experiments at CERN in Geneva. Beyond the outstanding scientific value of their stay, the selected students will find working in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment an extremely enriching personal experience. The programme is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make valuable and long-lasting contacts with other students and scientists from all over the world.

In addition to the work in the experimental teams, summer students attend a series of lectures specially prepared for them. See the lecture series from 2012. (The schedule for 2013 will be published soon). In the lectures, physicists and engineers from around the world share their knowledge on a wide range of topics in theoretical and experimental particle physics and computing.

Visits to the accelerators and experimental areas are also part of the programme, as well as discussion sessions, workshops and a poster session. Attendance requires a presence of eight weeks on site. The possible dates of stay are the following:

17 June to 9 August
24 June to 16 August
1 July to 23 August
8 July to 30 August - in exceptional circumstances only

Remember: If you are not from a CERN member state, don't worry! CERN offers studentships for nationals of non-member states.

See the summer students' information page for more information.
