In the Standard Model, the trilinear and quartic Higgs boson self-couplings are directly linked to the shape of the Higgs boson potential. The trilinear coupling, in particular, can be examined through studies of Higgs boson pair production. This seminar presents a combined analysis of all Higgs boson pair (HH) searches conducted by CMS, using the full LHC Run 2 proton–proton dataset at 13 TeV. Constraints on the HH production cross-section, the Higgs boson self-coupling, and the interaction between Higgs boson pairs and vector boson pairs are established. Additionally, couplings that contribute to HH production in scenarios beyond the Standard Model are constrained in the context of effective field theories.
