"A Novel Calibration Method for the HL-LHC Wire Positioning System Sensors"

Where:

774/R-013 at CERN

Abstract:

"The HL-LHC upgrade foresees the installation of over 300 Wire Positioning System (WPS) sensors to ensure the precise alignment of accelerator components on either side of ATLAS and CMS experiments. WPS sensors, which rely on extremely high capacitance sensitivity to determine the position of a component relative to a stretched wire, must be calibrated individually on-site. To meet this requirement, a new mobile calibration bench has been developed to provide fast, accurate, and automated calibrations.

This talk will present the new calibration bench, its underlying mathematical framework, validation tests, and improvements over the previous generation benches, along with the experience gained from its use during the IT String campaign."
