The central heating at the Meyrin and Prévessin sites is usually turned off around mid- to late May each year. Reducing the number of days of heating on campus was one of the measures included in CERN’s Energy Savings campaign launched in 2022.
In line with the Organization’s long-term strategy for sustainability and its energy-saving policy, it has been decided to turn the heating on and off according to the weather forecast instead of a defined regular calendar.
The weather forecast this year, particularly the overnight temperature, allows us to turn off the central heating on 7 May.
