Central heating will be progressively turned on throughout CERN from Monday 23 October 2023. All buildings will be heated within the next few days.

Delaying turning on the heating on campus was one of the measures of the Energy Savings campaign launched in 2022 and included in the ISO50001 certification.

According to these measures, the heating switch on is not any more defined on the basis of a regular calendar but on the weather forecast, and more especially on the overnight temperature. For each day on which the heating start is delayed, our Organization achieves significant energy savings.

We therefore thank everyone for their understanding and supportive efforts to stand the few cooler days before the start date.
