HP printers temporarily unavailable on 4 May

A migration of the print servers for HP printers and changes to the default settings will take place on 4 May from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

In the context of the print servers renewal for HP printers, a migration to new hardware and to new software versions is needed. The migration will increase the capacity of the servers as well as the security level.

This migration is scheduled on Monday 4 May 2020 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., outside working hours in order to minimize the impact on people currently working on site.

At the occasion of this migration, and for the sake of ecology, the default settings will be standardised for all the HP network printer models throughout the CERN site. The default settings will be the following ones: black and white, double-sided and A4 paper format. The few printers that are currently configured with banner page printing will keep this setting active.

Of course, users with specific needs (colour printing, A3 format, etc.) can, when the printer allows for this, change these parameters on their computer in order to print according to their needs.

Should you encounter printing problems following this migration, please contact the Service desk by creating a ticket, by e-mail or by phone (https://cern.service-now.com/service-portal/home.do, service-desk@cern.ch or 77777).
