Le Jardin des Particules: registration for school year 2020-2021

The Jardin des Particules school and crèche welcomes children from 4 months to 6 years of age throughout the year, promoting the reception of children of all nationalities.

It is open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6.15 p.m., following the Swiss school calendar and applying CERN’s official holidays. It is open to children of CERN personnel.

The Jardin des Particules welcomes around 100 children, grouped by age:

  • The crèche welcomes children aged from 4 months to 48 months for full days and mornings (for those aged 24-48 months).
  • The school welcomes children aged from 4 to 6 for full days, with teaching following the first and second primary class curricula (moyenne section and grande section in France).

The teaching staff at the Jardin des Particules provides a framework for the development of each child's personality through educational and teaching methods that respect their individuality within the group. They stimulate the children’s desire to learn, help develop their creative talents and awaken their sense of cooperation, friendship and harmony, regardless of nationality, gender, religion and social circumstances. Day-to-day learning is based on cooperative and active learning.

The educational team comprises around forty trained early-childhood professionals. They monitor the progress of each child, taking into consideration as far as possible their learning pace, age and needs within the common rules that apply to everyone. A Beginners’ English workshop is available for children aged four to six.
