Geneva, 26 March 2018. Cameras at the ready! On 1st June 2018, 20 photographers will be given an exclusive opportunity to explore the world’s largest particle physics laboratory. CERN is teaming up with major science laboratories for an international photography competition: the Global Physics Photowalk.

During the competition at CERN, entitled the “CERN Photowalk 2018: Behind the scenes”, the laboratory will open the doors of four unique spaces. The photographers will discover the SMI2 hall, building magnets for the Large Hadron Collider’s High Luminosity upgrade, one of the workshops for manufacture and testing magnets, the CERN Control Center and the intriguingly named “Antimatter Factory”.

The best photos will be chosen by a local jury and a public vote. Each laboratory will also choose three photos to be entered for the international competition, which will run until the end of summer. The overall international winning photos will be selected by a jury and a public vote and will have the opportunity to be featured in the CERN Courier and in Symmetry magazine.

The competition is open to all photographers. For more information about the “CERN Photowalk 2018: Behind the scenes” and to enter the competition, please go to: http://photowalk2018.web.cern.ch/

Please note that the number of participants is limited and that the deadline for applications is noon on 4 April.
