The CERN Safety Rules listed below have been published on the CERN website dedicated to the Safety Rules:
- Safety Guideline SG-C-0-0-6: Beryllium
This Safety Guideline provides guidance for the implementation of Safety Regulation SR-C “Chemical Agents”, in particular with regard to the handling and use of beryllium.
In particular, the Safety Guideline:
- highlights the need for risk assessment of activities where there is a risk of exposure;
- defines applicable occupational exposure limits for beryllium in air and the requirement for exposure monitoring where there is a risk of significant exposure;
- recommends maximum surface concentrations for operational and non-operational areas.
Safety Guidelines provide detailed instructions for the implementation of CERN Safety Rules. Compliance with a Safety Guideline provides a presumption of conformity with the associated CERN Safety Rule.
The CERN Safety Rules apply to all persons under the Director General’s authority. They are available under the following link: http://www.cern.ch/safety-rules
