What is it?
This 1x2h workshop discusses design principles in regard to (FDM) 3D printing.
Basic knowledge of FDM 3D printing and CAD design is beneficial, but not required.
Who is it for?
People who design parts that are gonna be produced by 3D printers.
This workshop covers multiple topics from material science to part design, so you will be able to understand how each choice effects the part und plan your project accordingly.
Although relevant to 3D printing, topology optimization is beyond the scope of this workshop.
Why is it important?
Since 3D printing differs a lot from traditional manufacturing methods, common design approaches don't take full advantage of its benefits.
To utilize the process at its full potential, a good understanding of many different design aspects and their interactions is required.
When?
- Wednesday 27. August from 17:30 - 19:30
Where?
The workshop will be held at CERN IdeaSquare. The building is located next to the Globe. To find the exact position, you can search for Building 3179 in MapCERN.
