Test of new internet firewall on 26 and 27 April

As previously announced, the CERN Computer Security team and the IT-CS Networking group are deploying a new internet-facing firewall. This firewall is scheduled to undergo several validation tests and will soon be checked with real CERN–internet traffic: on the morning of Monday, 26 April, access from the internet to the IT and computing services hosted in the CERN Data Centre will be moved to the new firewall (OTG0063324), and on the morning of the following day, access from the internet to the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) services hosted in the CERN Data Centre will also be moved to the firewall (OTG0063325).

All tests will start at 7.30 a.m. and should be finished before 1.00 p.m. Established sessions in progress at the start and end times will be dropped and will have to be re-established, but the tests are otherwise expected to be transparent and should not cause any issues.
However, in case of problems, users are invited to immediately contact the CERN service desk (service-desk@cern.ch, +41227677777) and open a ticket with the fourth-line Network Operations team.
