CERN engineer Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski and the rest of the Axiom-4 mission crew splashed down safely on the morning of 15 July at 11.31 a.m. (CEST) off the Californian coast aboard their Dragon spacecraft, after a one-day return journey back to planet Earth. The crew left Earth on 25 June for the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the same spacecraft that returned them safely to terra firma.
During his ESA (European Space Agency) mission Ignis, Sławosz conducted 13 experiments proposed by Polish companies and institutions and developed in collaboration with ESA, along with three additional ESA-led experiments. These covered a broad range of areas including human research, materials science, biology, biotechnology and technology demonstrations. While in the ISS, Sławosz also tested a CERN technology, the SpaceRadMon-NG (SRM), a radiation monitoring device, developed in 2024 in collaboration with the Polish startup SigmaLabs.
