We can all contribute to CERN’s efforts to minimise the environmental impact of procurement

|

As part of its commitment to environmentally responsible research, CERN published its Environmentally Responsible Procurement Policy in 2023, with accompanying measures to positively influence procurement-related emissions, which represent approximately one third of the Organization’s total greenhouse gas emissions.

In this context, the IPT department has developed a short, 20-minute e-learning course, which provides an overview of the Organization’s strategy with respect to the environment and of CERN’s current carbon footprint. It introduces the diverse concepts related to environmentally responsible procurement and describes the best practices to be followed in line with CERN’s associated policy.

The e-learning course aims to equip everyone involved in the procurement of supplies or services with the basic knowledge needed to make more environmentally conscious purchasing decisions and thus contribute to the implementation of the policy. Course participants will learn how environmentally responsible procurement decisions will help reduce CERN’s environmental impact and consumption of resources, thereby supporting the Organization's environmental objectives and ultimately its resilience.

Sign up to the course now on the CERN learning hub: https://cern.ch/cerp-elearning and make your contribution to environmentally responsible procurement at CERN.
