LHC Run 2

In early 2013, the LHC shut down for two years of planned maintenance and repairs. In 2015 the world’s most powerful accelerator began its physics programme once again for Run 2, this time with proton beams colliding 13 TeV — almost double the LHC's previous energy. This new energy frontier will allow researchers to probe new boundaries in our understanding of the fundamental structure of matter.

Beams are back in the LHC for the final year of Run II

Beams were circulating in the LHC by 30 March (five days in advance!), and everything is looking good for a strong final year of LHC Run II.
