Installed on the International Space Station on 19 May 2011, the AMS-02 experiment is performing a high-precision, large-statistics and long-duration study of cosmic nuclei, elementary charged particles and gamma rays. The detector, which so far has worked perfectly, collected data on 36.5 billion cosmic rays during its first 28 months of operation. At the 33rd International Conference on Cosmic Rays in Rio de Janeiro, the AMS collaboration presented the first results on two important issues: one addresses the flow rates and anisotropy of leptons, while the other concerns charged cosmic nuclei.
